Complete waste of valuable time. This movie was the worst I’ve seen in the past 10 years. The worst part was my favorite actress Meagan Good was in the film, so I hated giving my opinion in such a matter but this was a true disappointment

Movie Review: “Divorce in the Black” – A Disappointment in Every Sense
“Divorce in the Black,” produced by Tyler Perry, is a movie that will make you feel like throwing up as you endure the horrific acting and unskilled plot. Based on an incredibly toxic relationship between two people, this film is a painful watch from start to finish. The most disheartening aspect is seeing my favorite actress, Meagan Good, involved in this debacle. I wish her agent had burned the script the moment it was received.
Tyler Perry’s creativity has hit an all-time low with this new, ridiculously bad movie. “Divorce in the Black” is, without a doubt, the worst of the worst. It’s a mockery of the significant contributions African American film producers have made to the world of arts. Meagan Good’s involvement in this film is a tragic waste of her talent and reputation.
The movie opens with a puzzling and disrespectful scene where a mother acts out at her son’s funeral, having his body removed from the casket while she curses God in the church. This sets the tone for the rest of the film, which drags on with a dysfunctional couple going through a toxic divorce. The storyline continues to deteriorate as it leads to a climax where the wife sets up her husband and ultimately pulls a shotgun on him.
The acting is subpar, and the characters lack depth, making it difficult to empathize with or even care about their plight. The plot is disjointed and unconvincing, failing to deliver any meaningful message or emotional impact. The dialogue is cringe-worthy, and the scenes are poorly executed, leaving viewers frustrated and disappointed.
“Divorce in the Black” is an unfortunate addition to Tyler Perry’s body of work. It’s a film that does a disservice to its cast, its audience, and the legacy of African American cinema. Avoid this movie if you can; it’s not worth your time or attention.
