Founded by Stephanie Barnes, SistaH of SurvivaL stands as a beacon of hope and support for women reintegrating into society after incarceration. Barnes, a woman absent of selfish concerns, is dedicated to eradicating the defenseless conditions that many formerly incarcerated women face. These women often encounter a life of rejection from employers, landlords, and are deprived of essential human needs, making it incredibly challenging to become well-rounded citizens.

Barnes’s extensive research has uncovered numerous effective strategies for redirecting the futures of women who have served their time in prison. She recognizes that while a wrong decision leading to imprisonment is devastating for families, the return to society filled with hopelessness and limited resources can be equally, if not more, damaging.

To combat this, Barnes is working tirelessly to forge alliances with donors, property owners, and experienced business owners. Her vision is to establish a center that supports these women in discovering and utilizing their innate abilities to build businesses and reintegrate successfully. By offering resources and opportunities, she aims to help them transform their talents into sustainable livelihoods.

Barnes’s journey is one that deserves the attention and support of donors, political figures, and state representatives throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. She embodies the spirit of selfless advocacy, striving to be the change she wishes to see in the world. SistaH of SurvivaL is not just a support group; it is a movement towards creating a society that embraces second chances and fosters true rehabilitation and integration.

Stephanie Barnes’s relentless efforts and promising initiatives offer a glimpse into a future where formerly incarcerated women are given the tools, support, and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities. Her work is a testament to the power of unselfish dedication and the impact one person can make in the lives of many.

SistaH of Survival Org.

SistaH of SurvivaL is a Non-Profit Organization that aims to significantly decrease the risk of recidivism in the Washington, D.C. area. Our mission is to help women achieve intentional transformation, providing self-awareness support based on #MentalRESET and a holistic approach to create opportunities for their personal growth, independence, and long-term success.

The marketing goal for SistaH of SurvivaL is to start a mobile resource unit where victims can utilize the resources of Domestic Violence advocacy, therapist, and other resources to aid in their return to society. In the future, we are looking to have a physical resource unit and emergency housing in place for domestic violence victims.

We are committed to providing transitional and permanent housing options tailored to the unique circumstances of formerly incarcerated women. Our goal is to offer safe and supportive environments where they can rebuild their lives, develop life skills, and establish a sense of stability and belonging.

We recognize that successful reintegration is a multi-faceted process.
