POW/HER: Women of Wisdom

Margret Mitchell was a woman who epitomized fearlessness and unwavering determination. She was unfiltered, unapologetic, and never cared about conforming to societal expectations. Her indomitable spirit and ability to speak truth to power set her apart as a Woman of Wisdom. Mitchell’s remarkable journey was marked by her refusal to bend to popular opinions, even in the face of formidable adversaries like Richard Nixon.

In 1977, just over a year after Margret Mitchell’s untimely death, former President Richard Nixon publicly pointed fingers at her in an interview with journalist David Frost, essentially blaming her for his own downfall. Nixon’s attempt to shift blame onto Mitchell was not a unique occurrence; it had been a recurring theme since 1972, when the Watergate scandal came to light.

Margret Mitchell’s relentless pursuit of truth led her to speak out against the corruption and deceit that had infiltrated the highest levels of power. Her courageous stance made her a target of defamation, ridicule, and national ridicule. To this day, her name is associated with a psychological phenomenon known as the “Martha Mitchell Effect,” where medical practitioners mistakenly dismiss a patient’s genuine claims as delusions.

Legacy of Fearless Truth-Telling:

Margret Mitchell’s legacy is that of a woman who fearlessly spoke her mind, undeterred by the consequences. Her unwavering commitment to truth and justice inspired generations of women to stand up and speak out, regardless of the challenges they might face.

POW/HER Humanitarian Project:

In honor of Margret Mitchell’s spirit and the countless Women of Wisdom who follow in her footsteps, the POW/HER Humanitarian Project is gearing up for an extraordinary event. “International Women’s Day” in Washington, D.C. on March 8-9, 2024, will be a two-day celebration of powerhouse women who have achieved remarkable success in their careers and industries.

The POW/HER volunteering committee is diligently working to curate a lineup of top-tier speakers, panelists, and vendors whose messages resonate with women high achievers and those on their journey to greatness. This power-fueled event goes beyond celebration; it aims to make a difference by dedicating a percentage of all donations collected to support efforts to combat human trafficking.

Conclusion:

Margret Mitchell’s unfiltered courage and her refusal to back down in the face of adversity serve as an enduring inspiration for women worldwide. Her legacy reminds us that speaking truth to power is not only an act of courage but also a catalyst for positive change. As we honor her memory, let us continue to empower and uplift Women of Wisdom who, like Margret Mitchell, fearlessly pursue their purpose-driven lives.
